Book Forms? {Freebie}

Hiya Peepers

Shuna here

Long time no post huh?!

Sorry about that

I am counting down till the summer so I can finally have some free time

It is so hard to try to keep up with everything

Anyhoo

Do you use Scholastic Book Order forms?

Do you always have a bunch of them laying around

and have no real use for them?

Hop on over to my blog and see how I use them in my classroom

Click the pic to take you there

Now before I post this

I must say it is not the cutest

It is actually one of the first things that I created and could use some serious updating

It still gets the job done and its F.R.E.E

So I can get a pass right?!

Why thank you for that

Moving on

Peace Out Peepers

Valentine's Math Center: DIY

Hi there! It's Michelle from Apples and ABC's.  I want to share an easy DIY math center that you can make for you kids!  We are learning how to count numbers 1-30 right now in my Kinder class.  I drew some 30 frames inside a heart and wrote a number at the bottom of each page.  Then I bound about 6 different sheets together so they could flip through and practice different numbers.  On each page the students place that many objects in the 10 frame boxes.  Here are the materials:
-mini objects {I used Valentine's erasers from the Target dollar bin}
-fine motor tweezers {they can just use their hands}
-30 frame sheets

I placed this at a center for math time and the kids had a blast!  I don't always have them use the tweezers, but when we do use them they get to excited.  I stress how these make their hands stronger so they can become better writers.

I hope this is helpful for some of you!  Come by and say hi, anytime! :)
-Michelle

February Fun! Snow Globes + Penguin Art

photo of: February Fun in Kindergarten: Snow Globe, Penguin, President's Day

Hope you're having an awesome weekend! Debbie Clement here, rainbow-lady.

As I type, I'm in Ohio looking out the window at an ever mounting pile of snow. At this very minute its just the type of snow that lingers in a snow globe.

I saw these awesome snow globes on a bulletin board display a couple weeks back on one of my Author/Illustrator school visits in Florida. There are several things that I LUV LUV LUV about this project.

  • The back drop of 'snow' is created in an open-ended/process manner -- where every student will be successful. Run the marble thru the white paint across the blue paper and VOILA: instant delight! Cause and effect + science!
  • The teachers have allowed the students to create their own projects independently -- as evidenced by the snowmen slightly askew and individualized.
  • The final 'presentation' of the work is truly worthy of posterity.
Sharing the very same bulletin board were these Perky Penguins, which would be absolutely perfect for a Valentine focus of hearts tied to your winter-animals unit.

Tomorrow is the big SUPER sale over at Teachers Pay Teachers.
This will be my first Super-sale, as I'm still just getting my feet wet.

Pre-K, Kindergarten, First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth - TeachersPayTeachers.com
My little shop of digital products!

I have a LOT to learn about connecting all of the dots to get the word out about my work at TpT! Every additional pin, tweet and + is a step in the right direction and I'm ever so grateful for your help in the social networking arena.

Are you using the Project Based Learning Approach in your classroom? I just had a return visit to one of my fav-o-rite kindergartens and they used a PBL approach that centered around my newest picture book,
"Red, White and Blue"
which would be a perfect addition to your President's Day observations. I do have a digital version of the song, that includes the sign language and music notation in a zipped file at TpT. You simply must come to my blog, RainbowsWithinReach, to see the many facets of their patriotic PBL -- that culminated in their performing my music for the Veteran's of their community and then my visit in their midst.

I will be joining many in "Kinderland" in putting my projects on sale tomorrow. TpT will add an additional 10% in savings if you use the promo code: SUPER at check out.

Happy shopping!

As always, I think one of the biggest services that I can provide is that of being a curator of all the great ideas on Pinterest that are appropriate for these first years of school. I'm inching up on my first 100K followers there -- so I know others appreciate my efforts on that format. Yes. Please feel free to pin my images!
